Tanaka Farms Pumpkin Farm

October 4, 2020

We kicked off Fall by visiting Tanaka Farms for our first time ever. The boys picked out their costumes/outfits and we were on our way! The Tanaka Farms 2020 Pumpkin Farm is open from September 19th through October 31st. I wanted to share some of our pictures from our adventure and more details for any other families who want something fun to do this month.

Tanaka Farms has two options for their Pumpkin Farm. You can do a Drive-Thru Pumpkin Farm Experience which is open every Saturday and Sunday through October 31st. We did the second option which is a U-Pick Pumpkin with Wagon Ride and is open Monday through Friday from 9-5 through October 30th.

We started with the Wagon Ride that took us on a tour of Tanaka Farms. Wagons depart every 10 minutes and reservations are required. On the wagon ride we found out facts about their 30 acre farm and watched them launch the pumpkin cannon. It went so far we couldn't even see where it landed.

We got to pass by a lot of decorated pumpkins and then tried to pick a favorite out of all the awesome Scarecrows. You can vote for your favorite on their website now. Here are some of our favorites...

Next up on the wagon ride was a stop at the barnyard educational exhibit with farm animals. We got to see goats, piglets and a donkey named Duke. We weren't able to get out for this but the wagon did stop so we could get up and move around to see them and take pictures from the wagon.

After these cute little animals, we arrived at the final stop for our wagon ride and it was time to pick some vegetables. We laughed as Landon tried to pull some out of the carrots out of the ground and kept getting only stems. The boys enjoyed picking carrots, onions and cilantro. Ledger loved running back and forth through the garden.

We stopped and took some pictures by the cute signs and measured how tall the boys were this year.

Finally it was time for them to pick their pumpkins. Landon, Luke and Ledger picked theirs right away. Linkin puts way more thought into finding the perfect pumpkin and even got some help from a very special friend to make sure he found just the right pumpkin to take home.

The U-Pick Pumpkin and Wagon Ride is $25 per person and the whole experience lasts about an hour.  Ages 2 and under are Free, but do not receive a pumpkin. It works out ok when you have a paid adult because the little one can just pick out the adult's pumpkin. Active and Retired Military are Free with ID. And as of right now, face masks and social distancing are required during your visit. I ordered my boys baseball hats with face shields so their faces could be shaded and I could see their smiles. I emailed Tanaka Farms ahead of time to make sure this would be accepted. Before we headed out, we took some more pictures and looked around their little shop that had lots of cute Fall decor available for purchase.

And Ledger couldn't leave without waving at the Tractor and everyone we passed on our way to the car. 😉 Of course we made a video of our Pumpkin Farm fun, so be sure to check that out here: @OCBoysLife

Thank you Tanaka Farms for having us and we look forward to visiting again soon!
